The Campaign for the Hart Farm

Preserving Holden's rural character, now and forever.

The Holden Land Trust Board of Directors has signed a purchase and sale agreement to buy the 157-acre Hart Farm on Copeland Hill in Holden, Maine, for the purpose of preserving the parcel as open space. The Campaign for the Hart Farm will make this land purchase possible.

Conserving the Hart Farm is important in that it offers the opportunity to preserve open land from residential development while at the same time offering the opportunity for multiple uses which would include continuing to farm the land and providing public access for recreational and educational activities.

Purchasing the Hart Farm provides the chance to perpetuate where Holden has been, and opens the door to area residents to view current wildlife habitats and explore the land in conjunction with similar opportunities on the neighboring lands of the Curran Homestead and Maine Audubon.

Acquisition of this property will meet the goals of the Trust as well as the Town of Holden’s intent of preserving open space. Your tax-deductible contribution will bring us one step closer to preserving this parcel of land for future generations to enjoy its bucolic beauty.

Our goals include protecting and preserving this open land for public use, for wildlife habitats, and continuing the agricultural tradition by keeping the open fields cleared and available for farming as conditions permit.

Your financial support of our vision will preserve this historical farming property with its open fields, forested uplands and stunning vistas.

We hope you will join us in supporting the Campaign for the Hart Farm. Contribute to preserve Holden’s rural character, now and forever. Please give generously.
